"Great piano"

date: July 8, 2009

It kind of bugs me how people go crazy over all the trance and techno songs on Newgrounds, when most of them really aren't any good or just copies of other songs out there. Yet nice piano pieces like this never hope to break 3 or 3.5 rating. Sigh.

At any rate, I really like this. It could use a bit of variety for being two minutes long, but what you have already is pretty nice.

Battle #2

"Really cool"

submission: Battle #2

This is really great music, especially for an RPG. The only reason you didn't get 10 stars, is because I didn't really care for how the volume kept pulsating louder, softer, louder, softer, etc. I don't know if it was just a side effect from the back beat or something, but it was kind of distracting.

Aside from that, really nice work.

Author's Response:

Yeah, I have problems with volume control. I honestly don't know what it might be. Composing is no problem but when it comes to the technical part of it I seem to have problems.

My ears are kind of hurting a little bit, but only because the guitar is such a high pitch. Try lowering it an octave and this would be a really cool little piece.

"Pretty Good"

submission: ShifT.ed

Not bad, but it could use a little more substance. I was hoping for a "part B" at some point, but it just kept going with a few variations on the part A.

So in the future, just try mixing it up a bit more; and give our songs a little more variety. I like what I'm hearing here, just not when it's effectively the same thing over and over for over a minute.

try listening to my first song
its same first part with a 2nd part as you are saying
will have your comment in mind for future pieces.
thanx

[madboss] - Hopeless Love

"Hmm"

date: March 1, 2009

How did you make this? Was it strictly through mouse clicking in a program or did you record it through a digital piano, record a real one, etc.? The only reason I ask is because although I like the melodies, it needs some more/better shaping. That is, dynamics, hard/soft stuff. Right now, it seems all to be at one level.

Usually you can't tell that type of stuff with piano but when it's a slow solo like this one, it becomes really important.

If you get the shaping in there, I'd really like to hear this re-uploaded. :)

Author's Response:

Well yeah... it was made with a progrem and mouse clicking. I've tried to pay attention to the dynamics and don't let the song sound at one level... but I've wrote I'm not good with piano stuff so it didn't turned out that well.

I don't know if I'd ever make a re-arranged version. Still thanks for the review and the hints.

"Awesome"

Sounds like something that could be in Megaman Battle Network, or Sonic Advance. Maybe even FF. Love it, great work my friend.

"Very nice"

date: March 1, 2009

I like the melodies A LOT. Very original. The instruments aren't very high quality, but that may just be the program you're using. It sounds kind of like you're using basic midi sounds.

Maybe import this into a program with a bit higher quality instruments, and this would be some awesome stuff!

"Great stuff"

submission: Mario64 8-bit snow

Great 8-bit rendition, I can't find anything really wrong with it. Except I think there's supposed to be a sine wave in there...I only hear three "beep" tracks? I could be wrong.

Anyways good work. ^_^

Emerald City

"Love it"

submission: Emerald City
date: January 1, 2009

Excellent music, this would go great for an RPG, maybe a part where a city has just been destroyed and the main character has to look through the ruins and finds..uh...a giant emerald? lol.

But in all seriousness, it's great stuff, nice and calm in some parts but a little more stressful in others. ^_^ Me likeey.

Well, yeah, most of the reviewers say my music could fit an RPG.
